Independence Day Programme (Grade 6 to Grade 10) – 15th August, 2024

The air of patriotism filled the premises of Convent of Jesus and Mary School on 15t August, 2024 as it geared up for its 78th Independence day celebration . The Theme for the same was: ‘India’s journey – Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow.’ The programme started with a Parade by the ICSE Section Student Council followed by hoisting of the National Flag by the dignitaries which included the Chief guest Sri Rakesh Kumar Sahu, Principal Sr. Sheron Periera , The Manager Sr Aagatha Periera , Sir Santosh ,School toppers Ms. Shruti Bobade & Master Khwaja Quadri.     

The Chief guest  for the day was Sri Rakesh Kumar Sahu. He is presently posted at Gail India Ltd, as a Senior Security Officer. He had a dream of serving his nation. In  2005, he joined the border security force. He underwent intense training in Tekanpur, MP. Shortly after, he was posted at Tripura in the North East. It is also interesting to note that he has also served as a SPG, that is the special security officer for the Prime Minister of India from 2008 to 2016. to his hard work and dedication, he was promoted from a sub Inspector to an Inspector in the year 2008.

The cultural programme started with the lighting of the Samay followed by a meaningful prayer service. The cultural programme was organised by Grade VI Students along with their teachers Ms. Seeni Pency, Ms. Susanna and Ms.Zita  which showcased group song, dances, skit, speech etc. portraying India’s journey .

Students participated with great enthusiasm making it  truly an enriching moment imbibed with a sense of patriotism. The Principal Sr.Sheron Periera  & the Chief guest addressed the students on the importance of the day.

The Scholarship winners   of the ICSE section were the guests of honour  for the day . They were felicitated by Sr.Sheron Periera .

 The day instilled the young minds to  echo the voice of patriotism through their  deeds  & words . Thus,  filling young minds with the awareness to respect one’s Motherland and cherish the  sacrifices done for freedom. 

The programme ended with a note of thanks by Ms. Pooja & paying respect to the National song.
