Symbol: Red Carnation
Ideal: Prayer and Determination

Value: Love and Sacrifice

Feast: 31st July

St. Ignatius of Loyola has a beautiful motto “All for the greater glory of God” and it is evident from his life that he worked for the glory of God and not for his own. He was a man of prayer. He had a firm and determined will to serve God by his life of sacrifice.

The beautiful symbol of the Red Carnation stand for Love and Sacrifice which characterized his life. St. Ignatius sacrificed his riches for a life of Poverty and Obedience by loving and doing God’s will. We too can learn through Prayer and from Ignatius to love and obey, thus giving glory to God by our lives of love and obey, thus giving glory to God by our lives of love and sacrifice.

Life would be worth nothing without Love and Sacrifice. Our world badly needs these values today. It is not easy to make sacrifices and to love those around you, but by our determination to do so, you can make the world a happier place.
