ADVENT ASSEMBLIES

The Advent season is a time of preparation for our hearts and minds as we get ready to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ’s on Christmas day. During this period of four weeks of advent, one candle is lit every week. Each candle has its own significance and meaning.
The first candle, which is purple, symbolizes hope. It is sometimes called the ‘Prophecy Candle’. The second candle, also purple, represents faith. It is called the ‘Bethlehem Candle’ as a reminder of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. The third candle is pink and symbolizes joy. It is called the ‘Shepherds Candle’ and is pink because rose is a liturgical color for joy. On the fourth week of Advent, we light the final purple candle to mark the final week of prayer and penance as we wait for the birth of our Savior.

An advent assembly was held every week on the theme of ‘Hope, Faith, Joy and Love’. The teachers conducted the assemblies by
showing relevant videos to help the students understand and assimilate these values which are essential in today’s world.

Meaningful prayer service was conducted every week to sensitize the children to the needs of others around them.

This advent season truly helped everyone prepare their hearts to welcome baby Jesus.
