On January 8, 2025, a mock fire and evacuation drill was conducted for students and teachers from classes I to X in both the SSC and ICSE Sections, aimed at enhancing awareness of disaster management. The primary objective of this drill was to educate participants about effective fire-fighting techniques and the appropriate response to emergency situations.
The exercise was part of the school’s fire risk reduction program, designed to ensure that both students and staff are adequately prepared to handle potential fire emergencies. The mock drill allowed the school to assess its readiness and familiarize everyone with the processes involved in Fire Fighting and Rescue Operations.
Volunteers from the teaching, non-teaching, and support staff were positioned at strategic locations throughout the school premises, equipped with essential fire-fighting and rescue tools. They guided and assisted students during the drill, which was triggered by the sound of the fire alarm. Students were promptly escorted by their teachers to the designated ground area, where they were advised to remain calm and follow the instructions provided by their teachers during an emergency.
The evacuation process commenced immediately following the alarm, with students quickly leaving their classrooms and gathering at the assembly point. Adhering to safety protocols, the entire building was evacuated successfully within six minutes .
The Mock Drill was monitored by the Principal – Sr. Sheron. She addressed the assembly and had interaction with students regarding their perception of this drill. She also addressed certain precautions to be taken care of at the time of emergency.
Overall, the session proved to be both informative and essential, providing valuable lessons in life-saving skills.
