PARENTS ORIENTATION PROGRAMME – PRIMARY AND SECONDARY.

The Parents orientation programme for grades 1 to 10 was conducted on April 10th. It’s beneficial for parents to be aware of the curriculum for the entire year as it allows them to better support their child’s education. Understanding the curriculum in advance helps parents stay informed about the topics, skills, and learning outcomes their child will be covering throughout the academic year.

By providing parents with an overview of the curriculum, the school enables them to align their efforts with the school’s educational goals and facilitate a more cohesive learning experience for their child. It allows parents to prepare resources, establish routines, and offer additional support or enrichment opportunities based on the curriculum.

Being aware of the curriculum also helps parents stay engaged and involved in their child’s learning journey. They can have meaningful conversations with their child about what they are studying, ask questions to deepen understanding, and provide relevant real-world examples to reinforce the concepts being taught. Here are some common topics that were covered during the parents orientation.

1. Introduction to the School: An overview of the school’s mission, vision, and values, along with a brief introduction to the administration, faculty, and staff members.

2.Curriculum and Subjects: An explanation of the curriculum framework, subjects, and teaching methodologies used in the school. This may include details about core subjects (e.g., English, Math, Science) as well as additional subjects such as Social Studies, Arts and Physical Education.

3. Grading and Assessment: An explanation of the grading system used in the school, including how student progress is assessed and reported to parents. This may include information on tests, quizzes, projects and homework

4. School Policies and Procedures: An overview of important school policies and procedures, such as attendance, tardiness, discipline, dress code, homework expectations, and technology usage

It’s commendable that the school conducted the parents orientation early in the academic year, allowing parents ample time to plan and support their child’s education effectively.
