A Reading Day was conducted in Grade 11 on 1st October 2026 by the Class Teacher, Mrs.Lorina Fernandes, to encourage students to develop a regular reading habit and appreciate the importance of reading in their academic and personal lives.
The session began with a brief interaction on the significance of reading and how it contributes to improving vocabulary, language skills, concentration, imagination, creativity and general knowledge. Mrs. Lorina Fernandes highlighted that reading beyond textbooks helps students broaden their perspectives and develop critical thinking.
Students were given dedicated time for silent reading, allowing them to read books or other reading material of their choice in a quiet and focused environment. The activity encouraged students to spend meaningful time with books and experience reading as both an educational and enjoyable activity.
Mrs. Lorina Fernandes also spoke about the importance of making reading a part of one& daily routine and encouraged students to gradually develop the habit of reading regularly.
The Reading Day programme concluded with a positive message encouraging students to “Read, Reflect and Grow.” The initiative provided students with an opportunity to pause from their regular academic routine and recognise the value of reading as a lifelong habit.
