An industrial field trip was organised for the Grade XI ISC Commerce students on 8th September 2026 as part of their educational and experiential learning programme. The visit commenced from Convent of Jesus and Mary International School, Kharghar, at the scheduled time. Transportation arrangements were made by the school for the students
All the students of Grade XI ISC were accompanied by their Class Teacher, Ms. Lorina Fernandes. Throughout the visit, the teacher actively guided the students, encouraged them to observe the various industrial activities and helped them link their observations with the concepts covered in their Commerce-related subjects. The teacher also explained the practical application of classroom concepts wherever relevant, making the visit more meaningful and interactive.
The students visited J K Engg tech, an industrial unit located at A-52, MIDC Taloja. The visit provided students with an opportunity to observe an actual industrial environment and understand how concepts studied in Business Studies, Entrepreneurship and Accountancy can be connected to real-world business operations.
Details of the Industrial Unit
● The information displayed at the premises indicated that the unit undertakes commercial and industrial slitting services, including
● Slitting and cut-to-length processing of CR, GP, SS and Aluminium
● Slitting of materials ranging from 0.50 mm to 3.0 mm thickness
● Loading and unloading of materials.
● Precision slitting with emphasis on high accuracy and smooth finish.
● Recoiling and decoiling.
● Pallet and Goni packing.
● Coil-to-coil PVC and PVC slitting.
● Processing widths ranging from 20 mm to 1530 mm.
Objectives of the Visit
● The main objectives of the industrial visit were to:
● Provide students with practical exposure to an industrial establishment.
● Help students understand the functioning of an industrial unit.
● Familiarise students with industrial processes, machinery and material handling.
● Connect classroom concepts with real-world business operations.
● Understand the importance of production, quality, packaging and logistics.
● Develop observation, enquiry and analytical skills among students.
Give students an insight into the practical application of concepts taught in their ISC Commerce curriculum.
Learning Experience
The visit enabled students to understand the importance of precision, quality, efficient production, material handling, packaging and logistics in industrial operations. The explanations and guidance provided during the visit helped students relate the processes observed at the unit to topics discussed in their classroom lessons.
The Class Teacher continuously guided the students and explained and linked the industrial processes with relevant subject content, thereby helping them understand the practical relevance
of their academic learning.
Conclusion
The industrial field trip to J K Enggtech, MIDC Taloja, was a valuable and enriching experience for the Grade XI ISC students. It provided meaningful exposure to an actual industrial environment and enabled students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical business operations.
The active guidance of Ms. Lorina Fernandes, Class Teacher, throughout the visit helped students understand the subject-related relevance of what they observed.
